As one of the earliest exporters of roofing slate in China, Westone's parent company began exporting roofing slate to the UK over 25 years ago. However, we must clarify that China no longer produces roofing slate that meets the EN 12326 A1 T1 S1 standards. This is primarily due to the high calcium carbonate content in Chinese slate, which makes it unable to pass the S1 frost resistance test.
Chinese slate has the ability to weather quickly to create an aged appearance.
Excellent natural mineral composition
Beautiful natural colour with subtle tonal variation
Fine natural riven texture
Superbly consistent size, thickness and flatness
Excellent geometry and true rectangles
Pre-holed for rapid fixing

We would like to clarify that roof slates which have not passed the S1 frost resistance standard are still selling in large volumes in the UK market. Since 1993, Westone Stone Group has also exported significant quantities of such products. However, we have noticed that many UK importers claim these slates comply with the S1 standard. We regard this as misleading, and therefore we have chosen to stop importing them.
That said, we recognise that there are still trading companies, building suppliers, and customers who prefer to use this type of economical slate. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us. We maintain substantial production capacity in China and can supply these roofing slate tiles consistently at highly competitive prices.
